Fish like that will always put a smile on your face. Got that fish after an unsuccessful day of thrasher fishing in S C. Decided to troll back to the ramp. I was using a heavy Calstar 870 with a 4/0 Penn Senater and 40lb test with one of my set-up and a herring bait. . I had 2 lbs. of lead as we were about a mile due west of the pier. That butt hit and locked on to the bottom. I think it was about 55' deep. It was a great way to finish off what was an unproductive trip. I love to see that big brown shadow coming up from the depths. The X on his back must have been from my line I guess because he came up with the spot marked on his back like that. Seems like the majority of the larger butt's I get trolling are when I'm useing weights 1.5lb or bigger.
